Since the first café

Portuguese, with one address abroad

It began with a passion for food and travel. Exploring different culinary cultures gave us ideas we wanted to bring back to Lisbon, at a moment when the city was just starting to take brunch seriously.

In 2018 we opened Cotidiano in Chiado, one of the first open-kitchen brunch cafés in Lisbon. It was meant to be a welcoming, relaxed room. It quickly became a reference.

  • Lisbon 3 places
  • Alentejo coast 2 places
  • Madeira 2 places
  • Amsterdam 1 place

How it happened

  1. 2020

During the pandemic we launched Ordinário, an irreverent concept built on American street food and urban culture. It runs mostly through pop-ups while new ideas take shape.

  2. 2021

We left Lisbon and got into hospitality with Mute – Porto Covo: a laid-back coastal house for travellers who want simplicity, comfort and the Alentejo coast outside the door.

  3. 2022

We created Slang, combining the spirit of Cotidiano with bolder influences and a focus on Portuguese cooking, near Marquês de Pombal.

  4. 2023

Cotidiano arrived at Praça do Comércio, bringing a Nordic-inspired room and a terrace to one of the most photographed squares in Lisbon.

  5. 2024

Mute grew into Vila Nova de Milfontes, taking over the former Selina building and reimagining it as a coastal retreat for digital nomads, surfers and anyone exploring the southwest coast.

  6. 2024

We entered international franchising with Oakberry Açaí on Madeira — one of the world's biggest açaí brands, present in dozens of countries.

  7. 2025

A second Oakberry opened at Shopping Anadia in Funchal, strengthening the brand on the island and widening our franchising operation.

  8. 2025

Marquês de Pombal became a Cotidiano, mixing the warmth of Chiado with the restraint of Praça do Comércio for the people who work in the neighbourhood.

  9. 2026

Cotidiano leaves Portugal: the first café outside the country opens in Amsterdam, taking the open kitchen, the coffee and the unhurried pace with it.

3 brands, 8 addresses, one way of working: great food, great energy and amazing people.
